Our Varsity Cross Country team competed in the TCAF State Meet at The Buff in Haltom City, TX, on the morning of October 22nd! Today's meet consisted of athletes from TCAF High Schools including the prominent San Antonio Cornerstone, Westlake Academy, and Newman International Academy. There were 88 runners in the Varsity Boy's 5K wherein the ICS Varsity Cross Country team competed. Israel Quintana (So.) had the best finish for the Warriors, claiming 3rd place in the TCAF State Cross Country meet with a time of 17:37.62, his 3rd best time of the season! Landon Rubi (Sr.) ran in his final High School Cross Country race and came in 30th with a time of 20:23.34, which is a 30 second improvement from his last meet! Another athlete running his final High School Cross Country race is Ian Woodruff (Sr.) who came in 16 spots after Rubi at 46th, with a time of 21:36.40! Abel Velazquez (So.) finished the race 49th with a time of 21:59.67, his second best time of the season! Richard Jackson-Lopez (Fr.) gained valuable experience at the Varsity level, finishing 72nd with a time of 25:16.54!

Perhaps the most impressive storyline of this meet, is the fact that ICS finished in 5th place as a team at the TCAF State Cross Country Meet. The Cross Country team put up 119 points, coming in behind (1) High Point Academy, (2) San Antonio Cornerstone, (3) Founders Classical Academy, and (4) Westlake Academy. ICS was the only team in the Top 5 to have no more than 5 runners on their team!

Once again congratulations to the 2021 ICS Varsity Cross Country Team on your 5th Place finish and Congratulations to Sophomore Israel Quintana for finishing 3rd overall in the 2021 TCAF State Cross Country Meet!
