From December 14th-16th the Warriors participated in the Anthony Holiday Tournament, where they would go on to win the Consolation Championship and #30 Hector Perez would receive All-Tournament Honors.
The Warriors opened play with a shocking 52-55 loss to the Fabens Wildcats. In a game that proved to be one of the poorest shooting nights for the Warriors this season (40% from the field and 27% from the free throw line), Fabens was able to pull away at the end of the game. Nevertheless, 3 of our Warriors scored in the double-digits: Hector Perez had 13 points, Ben Story had 12 points, and Carlos Acuna had 10 points. Noah Ayala lead the team in rebounds with 10 while Acuna came in second with 8. Ayala also posted 3 blocks on the night.
The team would redeem themselves in a 63-27 throttling of the Clint Lions. Jayson Chang would lead the way offensively with 12 points while Josiah Johnson and Acuna added 11 and 10 respectively. Carlos Acuna would shine on defense earning 5 steals. Jaden Ortiz had 6 assists while Perez added 5 assists.
In the Consolation Semifinal the Warriors easily defeated the Austin Panthers by a score of 64-37. Ben Story lead the team offensively with 18 points, bolstered by Perez's 17 and Ayala's 11. Ayala was one rebound shy of a double-double with 9, while Perez worked well with his hands compiling 8 assists and 7 steals.
The Warriors would meet the capable Harmony Science Tigers in the Consolation Championship. They would squeak out a 46-43 victory to claim the Consolation top prize. Ayala and story each had 14 points while Perez added 10 points to the contest. Ayala finally got his double double, collecting 12 rebounds, while Perez barely missed his, with 9 assists.
The Warriors will look for redemption against the capable 6A Eastlake Falcons in Dave Frazier Memorial tomorrow at 7:30 PM!
