On August 19th, our Lady Warriors won the 2023 Van Horn Volleyball Tournament Championship! #3 Ariana Vazquez was named Tournament MVP and #16 Mia Bell and #17 McKenzie Hart were All-Tournament Selections!
The Warriors opened pool play against Dell City on Friday. They topped the Cougars 2-0 (25-7, 25-8). #16 Mia Bell had 7 aces in the contest.Â
Game 2 saw the Warriors defeat the JV Van Horn Eagles 2-0 (25-17, 25-7), where #16 Bell had 7 more aces and 15 assists.Â
The Lady Warriors finished Friday's pool play with a 2-0 (25-19, 25-12) win over the Marfa Shorthorns. #17 McKenzie Hart had 10 kills in the game while #3 Ariana Vazquez had 8. #16 Bell had 20 assists in the contest.Â
The Warriors got the best of the Buena Vista Longhorns on Saturday morning, in the 1st round of bracket play, by a score of 2-0 (25-17, 25-12). #3 Vazquez had a team high 13 kills and 9 serve receptions against the Longhorns. #16 Bell led the way in digs with 9 and assists with 14. #6 Kasandra Samaniego had 8 serve receptions of her own.Â
At 3 PM on Saturday, our Varsity Volleyball team faced and defeated the Ft. Hancock Mustangs by a score of 2-0 (25-23, 25-11). #3 Vazquez led the team with 12 kills. #1 Leah Fox and #16 bell each had 8 digs, while Bell led the team in assists with 18. Fox also had 10 serve receptions in the Semifinal game.Â
The Lady Warriors met the Van Horn Eagles in the Championship game of the 2023 Van Horn Volleyball Tournament. The Warriors would come out victorious 2-0 (25-14, 25-21). # Vazquez had 12 kills and 12 serve receptions in the contest. #16 Bell had 18 assists in the championship game.Â
Across the entire weekend #3 Ariana Vazquez had 56 kills, 22 digs, and 36 serve receptions; #16 Mia Bell had 89 assists; #17 McKenzie Hart had 39 kills.
The Lady Warriors will travel to Santa Teresa, NM, on Tuesday, August 22 to face the Desert Warriors.Â
