ICS hosted their annual basketball tournament from November 21st-23rd. They opened up play with a game against El Paso Leadership Academy, which they won 66-20, ending the first quarter with a score of 31-0.
Alan Valenzuela led the Warriors in scoring with 16 points, followed by Jonas Laffan with 10 points. Valenzuela made 3 three-pointers in the contes; he was also the leading rebounder with 7 boards. Noah Ayala had 3 blocks in the game. Jaden Ortiz led the team in assists with 6.
In the second round, the Warriors faced the Tornillo Coyotes, in what amounted to an intense game that could have made a fantastic Championship game. The Warriors would defeat the Coyotes by a score of 60-54.
The Warriors had 4 in double digits: Ben Story with 19 points, Noah Ayala with 16 points, Carlos Acuna with 11 points, Alan Valenzuela with 10 points. Ayala had an impressive night on defense, finishing a double-double with 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Acuna had 7 steals on an impressive defensive night.
The Championship game came down to the ICS Warriors and the Lydia Patterson Lions. The Lions fought hard, but would lose by a score of 48-54. Valenzuela once again was the leading scorer with 14 points. Acuna and Story each added 13 points to the final tally. Valenzuela hit 3 big three-pointers on his way to 14. Acuna had a team high 5 assists, 8 steals, and 3 blocks.
