The ICS Varsity Women's Volleyball team faced off against the Burges Mustangs, Del Valle Conquistadores, and El Paso High Tigers in the El Paso High Volleyball Tournament.
The Warriors opened tournament play with a 2-1 win over Burges. Ariana Vazquez had 18 kills and Andrea Ortega had 15 kills of her own. Grace Jackson led the team with 16 digs, followed by Vazquez with 15 digs, and Mia Bell with 13 digs. Mia Bell finished the day with 31 assists while Jackson tacked on 34 service receptions.
On Day 2, the Warriors took down the Conquistadores from Del Valle 2-1. Vazquez led the team with 18 kills in the contest. Lucia Munoz and Olivia Bell notched 2 blocks a piece. Jackson had 13 digs against Del Valle. Mia Bell came up with 31 assists and Ortega led the team with 28 serves received.
The Warriors met the host El Paso High Tigers on Saturday afternoon in the Championship game, but came up short by a score of 0-3 (13-25, 21-25, 17-25). Andrea Ortega led the team with 10 kills while Vazquez had 8. Vazquez also led the team with 9 digs. Mia Bell contributed 25 assists in the contest. Grace Jackson led the team in serves received with 21.
The Warriors will now prepare to face the Montwood Rams in Dave Frazier Memorial this Tuesday at 7 PM. JV will play at 6 PM.
