The Immanuel Christian Warriors closed out their home slate in dramatic fashion, defeating the Loretto Academy Angels in a five-set thriller (27–29, 23–25, 25–17, 25–14, 16–14) on Senior Night inside Dave Frazier Memorial Gym. The victory not only marked ICS's sixth win in the last eight meetings with Loretto since 2021, but also ensured that the Warriors retained the Cross Cup, keeping the city rivalry trophy in Warrior hands for another season.
Before first serve, seniors Lucia Munoz and Yareli Lopez were honored for their leadership, dedication, and lasting impact on the ICS volleyball program. Both veterans delivered steady performances on a night filled with emotion and high stakes.
Junior Carla Sousa-Travieso powered the Warriors' offense with a dominant 22 kills on 50 swings, hitting .200 and delivering clutch points throughout the comeback. Sophomore Jade Garcia followed with 14 kills and a team-best .250 hitting percentage, while senior Lucia Munoz added 9 kills in her final home appearance. Addison Kern and Maria Cordero chipped in 5 kills each, providing key support in transition.
Sophomore Lilia Ramirez steered the offense masterfully, finishing with 49 assists, 10 digs, and 4 service points while guiding the Warriors to back-to-back dominant set wins in the third and fourth frames.
From the service line, Sousa-Travieso, Munoz, and Kern each tallied 13 points, while Lopez and Cordero added 9 and 4, respectively. The Warriors collectively hit 92.2% from the line with 15 aces, applying steady pressure to the Angels' serve receive.
Defensively, Sousa-Travieso led the back row with 27 digs, while Lopez recorded 16 digs and a team-high 42 receptions, showing her trademark consistency. Kern added 11 digs, and Cordero and Ramirez combined for 18 more. At the net, Munoz and Garcia combined for five total blocks, sealing key points down the stretch.
After dropping the opening two sets, the Warriors roared back to life, dominating the next two and edging Loretto 16–14 in a thrilling fifth set to cap the comeback. The victory served as both a statement of resilience and a fitting tribute to the seniors, as Immanuel Christian celebrated Senior Night and once again hoisted the Cross Cup before their home crowd.
Next up, the Warriors will travel to Keene, TX, to face the Providence Prep Rams out of Belton, TX, in the TCAF Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday, October 30, at 6:30 PM CT at Chisholm Trail Academy.
