The Immanuel Christian Warriors wrapped up a strong weekend at the Bowie Invitational, held March 28–29 at Bowie High School, with an impressive list of personal records (PRs) across sprints, distance races, and field events.
Boys' Team Highlights
Sprint Events:
In the 100m Freshman Prelims, Gael Quinonez and Liam de Smet both clocked 12.40s, with de Smet earning a PR. In the 100m Open, Jeremiah Alarcon ran 12.78s, Adam Garduna set a PR of 13.06s, and Alam Canales ran a PR of 13.19s.
In the 200m Open, Josecarlos Samaniego led with a PR of 25.42s, followed by Jeremiah Alarcon at 25.58s and Adam Garduna at 27.23s. For the freshmen, Liam de Smet ran a PR of 25.59s, and Gael Quinonez finished in 25.75s.
In the 400m Open, Samaniego set a PR of 56.19s in prelims and followed it with a 56.28s in the finals. Christian Dulanto finished in 1:00.49, and Alam Canales ran a PR of 1:00.86. Freshman John Urrieta ran 1:00.16 in his division.
Distance Events:
Freshman Jonathan Munoz ran a PR of 5:20.38 in the 1600m Freshman Finals, with John Urrieta at 5:21.94. In the 1600m Open, Lane Bakken set a PR of 5:21.25, followed by Christian Dulanto at 5:26.74. Munoz also placed 4th in the 3200m Freshman Finals with a time of 12:16.60, while Bakken ran 12:48.53 in the 3200m Open Finals.
Field Events:
In Shot Put, Yurem Saenz threw 28'07.00", and Jonas Laffan threw 28'03.00". In Long Jump, Jeremiah Alarcon set a PR of 16'09.00", and Benjamin Frecka jumped 15'06.25".
Girls' Team Highlights
The Lady Warriors continued to show steady improvement in the sprints. In the 100m Freshman Prelims, Kezia Rayon ran a PR of 14.97s, just ahead of Valeria Escobar at 14.99s, while Athena Hurlbert clocked 17.89s.
In the 100m Open, Aubrie Donahue ran 15.20s in prelims. Donahue was also entered in the 200m Open, but did not start.
In the 200m Freshman Prelims, Valeria Escobar ran 31.59s, and Kezia Rayon recorded another PR with 33.35s. Athena Hurlbert followed with 39.96s.
With a wave of new PRs and valuable meet experience, the Warriors are gaining momentum as they head into the final stretch of the season.
