The Immanuel Christian Warriors Varsity Tennis team secured a competitive 7-5 team victory against the Gadsden Panthers from Anthony, NM, on March 28th. The Warriors relied on strong performances in singles and doubles to edge out their opponent in a closely contested matchup.
In boys' singles action, the Warriors were dominant, securing wins across all matches. Patricio Jimenez earned a victory by forfeit (6-0), while Gael Valenzuela cruised to an 8-0 win. Alan Cornejo and Adrian Carrillo each delivered solid performances, both winning 8-4, and Roman Gomez pulled through in a close match, winning 8-6.
The girls' singles matches were tightly contested, though the Warriors were unable to secure a victory. Gaby Stephens battled through a challenging match, falling 1-6, 5-7. Grace Johnson played an intense three-set match, narrowly coming up short 7-5, 4-6, 5-10. Jeual Castruita competed well but dropped her match 3-8.
Doubles play saw mixed success for ICS. Gerard Flores and Gabe Torres added another critical win, defeating their opponents 8-5. On the girls' side, Kristen Duarte and Nicole Haro played closely but fell short 5-7, 4-6, while Jeual Castruita and Gaby Stephens secured a key victory, winning 8-5. Ivanna Zepeda and Valeria Quevedo battled hard but ultimately lost their match 2-6, 1-6.
With this 7-5 win over Gadsden, the Warriors showcased their depth and resilience, continuing their strong season.
