Immanuel Christian's Varsity Volleyball team earned a decisive road victory Tuesday night, sweeping the Bowie Bears in three sets (25-22, 25-11, 25-18). The Warriors controlled the tempo throughout the match with balanced attacking, tough serving, and steady defense.
Senior Lucia Munoz led the offense with 6 kills on .417 hitting, while junior Carla Sousa-Travieso added 7 kills at a .385 efficiency. Senior Yareli Lopez contributed 5 kills, and sophomore Jade Garcia chipped in 3. Sophomore setter Lilia Ramirez ran the offense with 13 assists, while also adding 2 kills of her own.
From the service line, the Warriors were aggressive, racking up 18 aces as a team. Garcia was dominant with 7 aces, Ramirez added 3, and both Sousa-Travieso and Lopez contributed 2 apiece.
Defensively, the Warriors tallied 5 team blocks, highlighted by Garcia's 4 total blocks. Lopez and junior Aubrie Donahue led the back row with 7 digs each, while Kern added 6 digs and a team-best 11 receptions. Donahue also posted 14 receptions to steady the serve receive unit.
The Warriors will be back in action on Thursday, August 21, when they open play at the El Paso High Tournament against the Chapin Huskies.
