Immanuel Christian hit the road on Tuesday, August 26, for a non-district matchup against the El Paso High Tigers. Despite a late surge in the third set, the Warriors fell 18-25, 11-25, 25-27.

Junior Carla Sousa-Travieso paced the Warriors offensively with 4 kills, while sophomore Addison Kern added 3 kills on 20 swings. Senior Lucia Munoz chipped in 2 kills, and sophomore Jade Garcia added 3 more to round out the attack. Sophomore setter Lilia Ramirez ran the offense with 11 assists and added 4 digs.

From the service line, ICS was steady, collecting 9 aces and committing just 2 errors. Kern led the way with 7 service points and 2 assists, while Garcia (2 aces), Valeria Escobar (1 ace), and Sousa-Travieso each contributed to the scoring.

Defensively, the Warriors tallied 35 digs across the roster. Sousa-Travieso led with 8 digs, Lopez added 6, and Kern posted 7 to keep plays alive. At the net, Garcia was strong with 4 total blocks, and Sousa-Travieso added 3 more to slow down El Paso's attack.

In serve receive, Lopez and Kern carried the load with 22 receptions and 19 receptions respectively, while Sousa-Travieso added 10.

The Warriors will look to regroup and carry the positives from this matchup into their upcoming contests. Next up, ICS will participate in the Hussmann Tournament at Franklin High School beginning Friday — widely regarded as the most prestigious and competitive high school volleyball tournament in El Paso.
