On Thursday night at Dave Frazier Memorial Gym, the Immanuel Christian Warriors battled past the Deming (NM) Wildcats in a four-set thriller, taking the match 25–20, 25–17, 24–26, 26–24. The win improves ICS's all-time mark against the Wildcats to 3–0 in recorded history.
The Warriors came out strong in the first two sets, using steady serving and a balanced attack to control the pace. Deming pushed back in the third, edging out a 26–24 win, but ICS regrouped in the fourth to close out the night in front of their home crowd.
Jade Garcia led the charge at the net with 18 kills on 40 swings, while Carla Sousa-Travieso added 9 kills and Addison Kern contributed 8. Senior Lucia Muñoz chipped in 2 kills and provided leadership on the floor. Sophomore setter Lilia Ramirez directed the offense with 39 assists, while also adding 2 aces and a team-high 14 digs.
From the service line, ICS collected 15 total aces. Sousa-Travieso was particularly effective, striking 8, while Donahue and Lopez each added 2 and Muñoz and Ramirez each tallied 1. Kern was automatic from the line, finishing with 18 serves and no errors to keep pressure on the Wildcats.
Defensively, Sousa-Travieso and Lopez anchored the back row with 18 and 17 digs respectively, supported by Kern (14) and Donahue (9). In serve-receive, Sousa-Travieso handled 28 receptions with just 2 errors, while Lopez added 23 with 3 errors, and Kern chipped in 18 with just 1 error. Donahue and Garcia combined for the team's lone block of the night, helping ICS secure key points late.
