The Immanuel Christian Warriors kicked off their 2025 football season on Saturday, August 30, facing the Elida Tigers in Carrizozo, New Mexico. Despite a strong effort, the Warriors fell 24–64 in their Week One matchup.
Offensively, the Warriors found success both on the ground and through the air, compiling 222 total yards. Senior Benjamin Frecka connected on 5 of 10 passes for 66 yards and 2 touchdowns, while fellow senior Alam Canales added 39 passing yards of his own. Frecka also contributed 51 rushing yards, while Canales led the ground game with 62 yards on 11 carries.
In the receiving corps, Jeremiah Alarcon was the go-to target, hauling in 3 catches for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior Ismael Gutierrez added 22 receiving yards along with a rushing touchdown, while senior Aiden Kiniery chipped in a 19-yard reception.
The Warriors also struck on special teams, where Gutierrez provided a highlight moment by returning a kickoff for a touchdown.
Defensively, the Warriors were led by Aiden Kiniery, who posted a game-high 10 tackles, including 2 tackles for loss. Canales added 5 tackles with 1 tackle for loss, while Alarcon contributed 3 tackles.
Special teams and turnovers played a key role in the outcome. The Warriors lost two fumbles in critical moments, allowing Elida to capitalize and extend their lead.
Even in defeat, the game highlighted the Warriors' balanced attack and playmaking ability. With several offensive weapons and a defense anchored by experienced seniors, Immanuel Christian is set to keep building momentum as the season progresses.
The Warriors return to action in Week Two when they play host to the Sierra Blanca Vaqueros on Friday, September 5th at Chapin High School.
